Has today’s man become just a machine?

Or are his actions really coming from within him, from his own understanding and emotion?

This question may sound simple, but if we pause for a moment and think — it can take us to the roots of our lives. Are we really doing what we want, or are we just doing what is happening to us?

Are we really “the doer”?

If you look at a person’s life, he considers every action his own. If someone becomes successful, he says: “I worked hard.” If he makes a mistake, even then — “It happened to me.” But the question is: did we really make a choice?

What is the identity of doer ship?

When we do any action from within ourselves, with our full consciousness and freedom, only then can we say that we did it. But if we are doing something compelled by some emotion, habit, or reaction, is it really our karma?

Do we have a choice?

Suppose someone said something bad to you. Now the question arises —

Do you have a choice to get angry or stay calm?

If you say, “No, I get angry anyway”, it means you are choice less. And how is a choice less human being different from a machine?

Similarly, when a craving, habit, or addiction arises — do you really have a choice to stop it?

Are we reacting or choosing wisely?

Most of the time, we don’t think — we just react. If someone praises us, we become happy; if someone criticizes us, we become sad. If a desire arises, we run after it. It seems as if there is an “auto-pilot mode” running inside us, and we are living according to that.

So what is the solution?

The answer is — awareness.

If we pause, think, and choose at every moment – we can gradually move beyond reaction to doer ship.

Machines react, humans choose consciously.

Developing the art of “stopping and looking” is the first step that can make us human again – a human being who is not just alive, but living with awareness.
