The Initial State of Human Consciousness From the moment of birth, a human being enters a state where their identity is imposed from the outside. For example: When someone asks, “Who are you?”, the usual answer is: “This is my name, and I’m from that place.”
However, this name, location, and language—all are given by society and shaped by circumstances, not chosen by the individual.
Birth and Circumstance
Even birth itself is a matter of coincidence. No one chooses their parents, culture, or environment. Nature has instilled sexual desire in all living beings, and through this desire, the process of birth unfolds.
In most cases, procreation is not the intention—physical pleasure is. Hence, birth is often a by-product of circumstances rather than conscious choice.

Education and Social Identity
After birth, language, education, and values are all inherited from the surrounding society. In this stage, consciousness is shaped by food habits, social norms, and cultural practices.
This state is what we can call the natural or primitive state of consciousness.
Spiritual Consciousness – The Higher State of Awareness
While ordinary consciousness depends on external identity, spiritual consciousness emerges from inner realization.
Becoming the Witness
Spiritual consciousness does not merely observe the object—it also sees the subject, the observer.
For example:
If someone looks at an attractive object or person, ordinary consciousness focuses only on the object. But spiritual consciousness sees both—the object and the desire that arises within.
This dual awareness adds depth and clarity.
Self-Awareness
In this state, identity is not derived from external factors like name, caste, religion, or nationality.
Rather, one begins to identify with a deeper inner self—an independent spiritual awareness that is not bound by societal definitions.
Can Everyone Reach This State?
Regular meditation
Dissolution of the ego
The ego is selfish and does not want to pay the price of truth. It resists surrender. Hence, to transcend the ego is essential on this journey.
