Is Religion Necessary in Human Life?

Can a person truly live in peace without coming close to real religion? This is a deep and important question. If we honestly look around, we’ll realize that there’s hardly anyone in the world who is completely irreligious. Every human being, knowingly or unknowingly, is searching for something deeper—something that can bring lasting peace and fulfillment.

The True Purpose of Religion

The true purpose of religion is simple: To free the human being from inner sorrow and restlessness.

Today, whatever we are doing—whether it’s working, building a career, raising a family, or chasing dreams—we’re doing it in the hope that it will bring us peace. Nobody wants to remain unhappy. Everyone is seeking happiness in their own way.

But here lies the real question:
Has all that we’ve done in life truly given us peace?
Or is there still a silent restlessness within us?

The Unseen Restlessness Within

The truth is, that restlessness still exists. Despite all our external achievements, most people live their entire lives with this subtle inner void. They begin to believe that this is just how life is.

But a few rare individuals refused to accept this inner unrest as normal. They asked the ultimate questions:
Is it possible to live without sorrow and inner chaos? Is there a deeper truth behind this life?

The Journey of the Sages and the Roots of Sanatan Dharma

The ancient sages of India took these questions seriously. They left behind worldly pleasures and comforts to dive deep into the mysteries of life. Through intense self-inquiry and meditation, they discovered a profound truth:
Sorrow is not essential to life.

This realization laid the foundation of what we now know as Sanatan Dharma—a spiritual path that doesn’t bind us with dogmas, but liberates us with understanding. Its core purpose is not mere ritual, but awakening
